UCSB Snow Hydrology

Data

Our studies of global hydrology and hydrochemistry result in an accumulation of massive amounts of scientific data. We are addressing the need to manage these large, complex data sets, so that the data are effectively and efficiently ingested, stored, maintained, retrieved, and analyzed. Databases and other tools are being used to manage data and metadata pertaining to field measurements, imagery, publications, and algorithms. The Earth Information Lab (EIL) at UCSB is playing a major role in improving data management and access for the Snow Hydrology Research Group. Much of this data can be acquired at the following sites:

Data Site
Description
  • Catalog of a variety of air and space-borne imagery, such as AVIRIS, Landsat TM, and radar.
  • Current meteorological conditions
  • Recent view to west of Mammoth Mountain meteorological station
  • Database of meteorological data
  • In-situ data primarily acquired in the alpine regions of the Sierra Nevada, California. Data includes, but is not limited to, physical and chemical properties of snow, meteorological data, water chemistry and discharge
